211th Street Block Association Community Garden

Located in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx near several public schools, this 3,000+ square-foot garden features an enormous rock outcropping and an expansive lawn. Since 1983, when a group of community residents planted their first crop, the garden has been producing herbs and vegetables, including tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, basil and parsley.

Over the years, community events have ranged from barbecues to workshops on making herbal tea and soap. NYRP’s improvements to the garden have included a new exterior fence, water source, and garden shed along with the addition of rose bushes and butterfly shrubs.
